Nathan Peterman is getting another shot in the NFL.
The former Buffalo Bills quarterback will be signing with the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN. According to the NFL Network, Peterman is signing to Oakland’s practice squad, not the 53-man roster.
He was in Oakland Wednesday for a workout.
Peterman, 24, is in his second season in the NFL. He initially won the starting job for the Bills after training camp following a three-way competition. But he was quickly benched midway through a woeful 47-3 loss in the regular-season opener against the Ravens in which Peterman completed just five of 18 passes for 24 yards with two interceptions.
The Bills then gave the job to rookie Josh Allen. Peterman returned to action Week 6, when Allen suffered an elbow injury and was knocked out of the game. Buffalo then benched Peterman again and installed Derek Anderson as the starter, but he, too suffered an injury Week 8. In came Peterman again to close out that week’s game against the Patriots.
And then Peterman made his last start in Buffalo Week 9 in a 41-9 loss against the Bears. Once Buffalo signed Matt Barkley and once Barkley performed well for the Bills in Week 10, Peterman – again – was relegated to a backup.
The Bills cut Peterman the day after the Jets game. He had remained unsigned until now. He finished his career in Buffalo completing just 52.3 percent of his passes for 548 yards, with three touchdowns and 12 interceptions in only eight games and four starts.
The Raiders host the Broncos Monday night.
