Baby’s gotta eat! Photographer Claire Rothstein took to Instagram on Tuesday, December 18, to share a photo of Rachel McAdams pumping breast milk during a photo shoot for Girls Girls Girls magazine.
In the shot, taken by Claire Rothstein and Visual Artists, McAdams, who welcomed a baby boy in April, with her boyfriend, Jamie Linden, rocked Versace, Bulgari diamonds — and a black hands-free pumping bra.

A million reasons why I wanted to post this picture. Obviously #rachelmcadams looks incredible and was quite literally the dream to work with but also this shoot was about 6 months post her giving birth to her son, so between shots she was expressing/pumping as still breastfeeding. We had a mutual appreciation disagreement about who’s idea it was to take this picture but I’m still sure it was hers which makes me love her even more. Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world and I can’t for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of. I don’t even think it needs explaining but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes one person’s perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that’s great. Besides she’s wearing Versace and @bulgariofficial diamonds and is just fucking major. Big shout out to all the girls ?? #rachelmcadams for @girls.girls.girls.magazine cover shoot ? @clairerothstein #pleaseshare Side note: I did not look anywhere near as fabulous as this when feeding/pumping. And that’s ok too. “A million reasons why I wanted to post this picture” Rothstein began in her caption, noting that the image was taken “about six months” after the Mean Girls actress, 40, had given birth.
“Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world and I can’t for the life of me imagine why or how its is ever frowned upon or scared of,” Rothstein wrote. “I don’t even think it needs explaining but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes on person’s perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that’s great.”
The Notebook star spoke about her little boy for the first time in a November interview with The Sunday Times.
“It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, hands down,” McAdams said at the time. “[People say] your life is not your own anymore, but I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person.”
McAdams and screenwriter Linden, 38, who began dating in 2016, have not publicly revealed the name of their infant. “I want to keep his private life private,” she told the Times. “Even if mine isn’t.”
But the Canada native did gush that she has never been happier. “I’m having more fun being a mom than I’ve ever had,” she mused. “Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. Even the tough days — there is something delightful about them.”
