Elsewhere, Rafa Benitez got it spot on as Newcastle won at Huddersfield… but Claudio Ranieri seems to have his work cut out at Fulham.
Here, SunSport’s analyst Danny Higginbotham talks tactics…
1 – Rondon is pivotal to Rafa's approach
SALOMON RONDON was the first name on Rafa Benitez’s transfer list last summer.
He eventually got the striker on loan from West Brom — and Rondon is now showing why Rafa wanted him so badly, as he is pivotal to their approach.
It’s not just the goals, he helps Toon defensively as well.
They have recently switched to a back three, or back five, and with Rondon have a striker who is comfortable leading the line on his own.
He’s great with his back to goal, runs the channels and holds the ball up.
You can see from his touch map, that he is all over the place and he provides the outlet.
2 – Fulham's defensive approach is naive, Ranieri must fix it
CLAUDIO RANIEIRI’S success at Leicester was based on defending deep and having pace and runners to counter.
This Fulham team has too many players wanting to come towards the ball.
Again yesterday they had more than 50 per cent possession but that created problems.
There was no out ball and teams can defend high against them.
Fulham need to find a way to get over this or the defeats and goals against will keep piling up.
3 – Klopp was canny to sign Shaqiri to give front line more options
YOU have to admire the way Jurgen Klopp has gone about his transfer business.
The Liverpool manager brought in Xherdan Shaqiri for £13million and now has a quality impact substitute.
Shaqiri also gives the squad greater depth.
That means Liverpool have a high-energy front four with greater versatility.
