Taking a double-minor penalty in hockey is always bad, but Florida Panthers defenseman MacKenzie Weegar made things a whole lot worse for himself during Saturday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In the second period with the Panthers leading 2-0, Weegar was called for a double-minor for a high stick – meaning blood was drawn on the play – on Leafs forward Tyler Ennis. Weegar was clearly not happy about the call and slapped his stick against the glass in frustration. Unfortunately for him, he clipped the linesman in the process, earning himself a 10-minute misconduct due to "abuse of officials."
