Disney Fairy Tale Weddings: Where Can You Buy Disney Wedding Dresses?

For some people, Disney World is a place you take your kids. But for others, it’s the perfect place for a dream wedding. Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings: Holiday Magic, airing on December 8 on Freeform, captures the magic of a wedding at Walt Disney World Resort. This holiday-themed special features a Mary Poppins-themed wedding and a performance by country star Martina McBride.

Real-life Disney weddings like those featured on the show can cost as little as $3,500 to as much as $180,000. Whether you go choose the more budget-friendly option or splurge on a ride in Cinderella’s carriage or an in-park ceremony, Disney will do everything to make your day memorable. But if you’re dream wedding dress is a replica of Belle’s ball gown from Beauty & The Beast, you may be out of luck. Right now, there’s no way to buy official Disney wedding dresses — at least in the U.S.

What happened to the Disney wedding dress line?

Until recently, you could buy Disney-approved wedding dresses from Alfred Angelo. The gowns were part of the company’s Disney FairyTale Wedding collection, which featured dresses inspired by Disney’s favorite princesses.

The dresses weren’t exact replicas of the gowns you remember from the movies, but they had details that connected each to a different princess. For example, the “Ariel” from the Fall 2015 collection was a blue, mermaid-style gown. The “Cinderella” from the Fall 2017 collection was a classic ballgown like the one its namesake wore to waltz with Prince Charming, while the “Elsa” features a cape, similar to the one the character wears in Frozen.

Unfortunately, Alfred Angelo went bankrupt and closed all its stores in July 2017. With it died the Disney wedding dress line, at least for now. Unless you head to Japan, that is. Disney has partnered with Japanese designer Kuraudia on a line of princess-inspired gowns, but they’re not sold in the U.S. Australian designer Paolo Sebastian also created a line of Disney-inspired couture gowns for his spring 2018 collection, but those high-end pieces weren’t widely available.

You may be able to find Disney wedding dresses online

If you have your heart set on a Disney dress, you can still find some Alfred Angelo dresses online. Pre-Owned Wedding Dresses has several gowns for sale, including designs inspired by Cinderella, Belle, and Tiana. You can also find dresses listed for sale on resale apps like Poshmark and Tradesy.

Otherwise, retailers like David’s Bridal have numerous princess-inspired gowns. While these aren’t official Disney dresses, they might offer the look you’re going for.

Custom Disney-inspired wedding dresses

If looking like Sleeping Beauty or Ariel on your big day is your goal, then you might need to turn to a custom dressmaker to fulfill your dream.

The Etsy shop Bella Mae’s Designs sells reproductions of Disney dresses, like Belle’s yellow gown from Beauty & the Beast and Cinderella’s iconic blue dress, though they’re not technically wedding dresses. You can buy similar replicas of Disney dresses from other Etsy sellers.

Or, consider turning to a custom wedding dress designer to create the gown of your dreams. Services like Anomalie and Bluethread Bridal work with brides to create custom dresses that perfectly capture the look they want on their wedding day.

Of course, there are plenty of other ways to incorporate Disney into your wedding, whether or not you’re getting married in the park. You can invite guests to your celebration on Disney stationery or accessorize with Disney fine jewelry from Zales (yes, they have engagement rings). Bridal Guide has a roundup of even more ways you can make your big day a Disney day, complete with a happily ever after.
