Belgium's museum reflects colonial oppression against DRC

Some critics say a more significant gesture would have been to return looted objects and artworks to DR Congo, its former colony.

    A controversial museum, focusing on Belgium’s colonial past, is re-opening after being closed for a year.

    The event is being overshadowed by demands from former colonies, like the Democratic Republic of Congo, that it return some artefacts.

    Curators say the renovated museum outside Brussels, takes a critical view of colonial rule in what was then the Belgian Congo.
