Victim’s diplomatic immunity spares husband from domestic violence charge

A man was arrested Saturday morning for striking his diplomat wife at their Manhattan apartment — but cops had to let him go because of her immunity from the law, police sources said.

The 46-year-old woman called cops from the couple’s Turtle Bay apartment on East 47th Street near Second Avenue — known as the Embassy House — at around 9:30 a.m. and said her husband, Youssef Amrouche, 37, assaulted her during a domestic dispute, the sources said.

When police arrived at the home, Amrouche allegedly slammed the door on an officer’s hand in an attempt to keep him out.

Police arrested the hubby but didn’t hold him for long — because his wife’s diplomatic immunity extends to him, the sources noted.

“They arrested him, but they had to let him go,” a police source said.

The victim, who works for the UK ambassador to the United Nations, had redness and swelling to her face, but refused medical attention, sources said.
