Tenshin Nasukawa will 'leave some better results' than Conor McGregor when he fights Floyd Mayweather, and does not rule out a KO win

Nasukawa, 20, will meet Mayweather, 41, in an exhibition bout on December 31 at the Saitama Arena, in Japan with MMA promotion RIZIN FF promoting the contest.

The fight will not go on either fighters records and no judges will score the bout either, as the pair compete over three-three minute rounds.

Mayweather beat UFC star McGregor, 30, last year after ten rounds, in what was The Notorious' pro boxing debut – although The Irishman did win some of the early rounds.

However, at media day at the Mayweather Boxing Club Nasukawa claimed he will test the unbeaten American more than McGregor did.

Nasukawa said: “My fighting style is going to be totally different to how Conor fought Mayweather, but I’m pretty confident to be able to leave some better results than that fight.”

Nasukawa is undefeated in his 28 kickboxing bouts with 27 coming by KO, while Mayweather moved to 50-0 after his stoppage win against McGregor.

This marks the first time Nasukawa will compete as a boxer, however, the Japanese fighter claims he will not rule out a KO win against the undefeated Mayweather.

Nasukawa said: “I think it’s extremely hard for that to happen but I’m sure there will be openings and opportunities and if that happens I’d definitely like to take that.

“It’s going to be three minutes and three rounds so I’m going to use that ruleset at my fullest potential – I think I’m faster and I’d like to use my weapons against him.

“Obviously it’s absolutely normal for everybody to think that I have absolutely no chance.

“But I'm going to fight for the people who believe in me, the people who support and trust me and I’m going to go in there believing in myself and knowing that I have myself to prove.”

This will be the second consecutive fight Mayweather will face a southpaw boxing debutant.

And Nasukawa claims he does not plan on fighting Mayweather in a traditional boxing style, unlike how McGregor surprisingly boxed last year.

Nasukawa added: “I always incorporate by boxing training while I train for kickboxing fights too, so I have been training for a long time.

“Obviously the distance and fight stance is a little different to kickboxing.

“But I don’t plan to face Mayweather as a boxer, I don’t plan on fighting as a boxer so please look forward to my unorthodox style.”
