Coronation Street star Alex Bain – aka Simon Barlow – becomes a father at 17

Congratulations are in order for Coronation Street star Alex Bain.

The 17-year-old, who plays Simon Barlow in the ITV soap, has welcomed a baby girl with his partner Levi Selby.

According to The Sun, Levi shared a picture of daughter Lydia-Rose on Facebook and was quickly flooded with messages of congratulations from friends and family.

Levi announced their news back in May when she shared a picture of her baby scan on Facebook.

The pair were recently rumoured to have split up, however the young actor set the record straight stating they were still together.

Bain first found fame as a child actor, appearing in a Rice Krispies television advertising campaign as well as the BBC drama series Sunshine.

He first joined the soap as Peter Barlow’s son in 2008, taking over the role from twins Jake and Oscar Hartley who took on the role from birth.

He scooped a soap award for Best Young Performance in 2011, and since then has been handed a number of challenging storylines.

Simon went to live with his father after his mum Lucy died of cancer. But due to a turbulent relationship with his alcoholic father, the youngster goes to live with stepmum Leanne Battersby.

After falling in with a bad crowd, he started lashing out at Leanne in a shocking domestic violence storyline.
