Sorry, kid! Jennifer Meyer is flattered that her 9-year-old son, Otis, wants an $11,000 design from her jewelry line.
“He is asking for a good luck charm, which is my necklace,” Meyer told Us Weekly at Rachel Zoe’s Holiday/Resort 2019 Collection Presentation in Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 28. “He’s not going to get one, because it’s a very expensive necklace, but I think it’s very sweet that my son is asking for my jewelry.”
The 41-year-old and her ex-husband, Tobey Maguire, share kids Ruby, 12, and Otis. (According to Meyer, Ruby wants Brandy Melville clothes for Hanukkah!) Meyer and the Spider-Man star, 43, announced in 2016 that they were splitting after nine years of marriage. A source at the time told Us that the decision “was not sudden” and there was “no drama.”
When it comes to coparenting, Meyer and Maguire are on the same page. “I always say, we love our children more than anything in the world and we want our children to be happy,” the jeweler explained to Us on Wednesday.“And if you want your children to be happy, it kind of all starts with you.”
While maintaining a healthy relationship with an ex takes effort, it helps that the former couple truly care about each other. “We work really hard to connect and get along and love each other,” she revealed at the bash, where guests sipped Perrier-Jouet champagne and speciality cocktails by Avion Tequila and Absolute Elyx. “He’s really the best, so I lucked out with a great best friend.” In fact, Meyer said she and the Great Gatsby actor see each other “pretty much every day.”
It’s not the first time Meyer has raved about the father of her children. “He’s the greatest ex-husband a girl could have,” she told Us in January.
The L.A. native also loves spending time with her other besties including Kate Hudson, Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Richie.
“I mean, listen, nothing’s better than a night in on a couch with your best friends and a bottle of wine,” she told Us earlier this year. “If we go out, nothing’s better than Mexican and tequila.”
