You’re invited to a holiday party; you reach for a cocktail dress. We get it. Swap your nine-to-five suit for one that’s decidedly more five-to-nine, thanks to allover lace, velvet or, better yet, crushed velvet. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider a sparkly shorts suit. (Layer sheer tights underneath for a more wintry vibe.)

The Statement Skirt and Sweater Combo
Pair two contrasting textures for one very cool look by topping a sequin or fringe skirt with a cashmere or mohair sweater. We’re partial to skirts in less common colors, like this sea-foam green or yellow-purple-black fringe mix.
