A gun-toting Queens robber shot a Duane Reade employee in the head during a botched stick-up early Monday — then calmly went on to hit two more area convenience stores.
The suspect entered the drug store on Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside around 3:36 a.m. and demanded cash before getting into an argument with 49-year-old employee Alejandro DeLeon, eventually shooting him in the head and hand, police sources said.
The shooter fled before he could get his hands on any money, and nothing appears to have been stolen, police said.
He struck again just 25 minutes later, holding up a 7-11 store less than a mile away on Northern Boulevard and Woodside Avenue around 4:01 a.m.
Then at about 4:15 a.m., the goon robbed a Rite Aide on 30th Avenue and 33rd Street, according to sources.
It was not immediately clear if he made off with anything in those two robberies.
Back at the Duane Reade, a deliveryman discovered the ailing DeLeon behind the counter and alerted authorities. DeLeon was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition but is expected to pull through, police sources said.
He was undergoing surgery Monday morning.
