Footballer Billy Waters shares photos of 20-year-old sister's injuries after stranger punched her in street

Billy Waters, 24, who plays for League 2 side Northampton Town, has appealed for help to track down the attacker.

He posted two shocking pictures of his younger sibling Eliza, 20, which showed dark bruising and a nasty cut around her left eye.

The third year university student, who is studying film scoring at Leeds College of Music, had been on her way to work on Friday morning when she was punched by a “complete stranger” near a bus station on Duke Street.

It appears the attack was unprovoked.

Striker Billy, who started his career at Crewe Alexandra, said: “A complete stranger punched my 20-year-old sister at 11am on Friday on her way to work.

“This happened in Leeds near the bus station. If anyone knows anything about it please get in touch with the police.

“I hope the idiot that did it sees this and realises what he’s done.”

Billy’s tweet was met with a groundswell of support.

Former footballer John Finnigan said: “Sad to say this happened in my home town. If anyone knows who did this please report the sad excuse of a man to the police.”

Jane Tulloch tweeted: “Poor girl. Hope this thug is caught and dealt with”.

Another wrote: “Absolutely disgusting and horrible”.

Susan Chandler tweeted: “So awful. It must have really shaken her”.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted on Duke Street in Leeds on Friday 23 November.

"The incident happened at around 1050am when the 20-year-old was hit in the face.

"She was left with facial injuries as a result.”

Inquiries are ongoing.

Any witnesses should call police on 101 quoting log number 13180587888.
