RMC Sport claims the playmaker has been identified by Maurizio Sarri as a top target in January.
Aouar has scored five Ligue 1 goals and assisted three others in the Champions League.
That’s despite being just 20 years old.
And Sarri reckons Aouar can develop into a world-class player who is perfectly suited for his system.
Chelsea have made a roaring start to life under the Italian, and are unbeaten in 18 matches since August’s Charity Shield defeat to Man City.
However, the Blues are squandering a number of chances in front of goal.
And it’s believed Sarri wants to add a midfielder capable of running into the box from deep to help the side polish off more attempts on goal.
Chelsea are also said to be looking at reinforcements in attack and defence as they aim to keep pace with City and Liverpool.
Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi is being lined up to replace Alvaro Morata, while teammate Milan Skriniar could also be ushered in to beef up the backline.
