I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!‘s Anne Hegerty will get upset more than the other campmates in the jungle, but will recover quickly, according to her The Chase co-star, Mark Labbett aka ‘The Beast’.
Speaking to the Loose Women panel, including Stacey Solomon and Janet Street-Porter, today (November 21), Mark explained that Anne’s autism can cause her to panic during unexpected situations.

He said: “People with autism, they like certainty, they’re the ultimate planners. The business we do [as quizzers] it’s very easy to absorb facts with clear answers.
“Anne does really badly when she’s surprised. She plans everything. I know everywhere she goes in the world – before she goes she will plot where she will have mass on the Sunday.”

Mark, who chose Anne to be godmother to his son, felt that: “You’ll notice with I’m a Celebrity, anything that comes out of the ordinary, she doesn’t react well to it.
“I’m quite confident in her ability to recover from that. I think she’ll be fine.”
He also added: “The nice thing about Anne is, she doesn’t have that filter, that disguise that other people have. So what you’re seeing is how she genuinely is.

“She will be like that [upset] a bit more. The difference is she’ll pull herself together after 15 / 30 mins or so then she’ll be back. I think she’ll go a long way.”

The Beast also revealed that he talked the quiz expert into taking part in the show, so felt partly responsible for her facing her Bushtucker Trial, which she called time on after winning two stars.
Mark continued: “I’ve got a confession to make, I kind of talked her into it. I feel even more guilty after voting for her on that trial.
“Foolish me, when they said ‘mental challenge’ I thought, ‘Perfect for Anne, throw her in, she’s really good under that kind of test conditions!’ I should have realised, with it being the jungle, it would be more than solving a problem, it would be slime etc!”
Finally Mark said that he would be up for heading to the I’m a Celeb jungle himself next year, as long as he was paid enough. He finished by saying: “If I get enough calories and the fee’s big enough, hell yeah!”
