UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin insists a proposed European Super League will not happen.
A recent Football Leaks document claimed a host of Premier League clubs had taken part in secret negotiations over a breakaway league.
Arsenal , Chelsea , Liverpool and both Manchester clubs were all named by German publication Der Spiegel.
But Ceferin and European Club Association chairman Andrea Agnelli branded the plans as "fiction".
"I can confirm we have never seen, never discussed, never been involved in the creation of this document," Ceferin told BBC Sport.
"We have some ideas. All I can say is that any Super League is out of the question. It will not happen. It is in a way a fiction now or a dream."
Agnelli added: "It will be our duty to safeguard the great heritages of European football but on the other side I think we are very well aware that we have to safeguard markets, we have to think about upcoming markets."
Speaking recently Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi admitted that there had been discussions.
"There definitely isn’t going to be a major revolution in the near future because we have an agreement with UEFA right now.

“But we have to be responsible because Arsenal is an incredible jewel and we need to make sure we are always in the driving seat of anything that may happen in the future.
“We need to be involved in these discussions so we can be aware of what is being proposed and can then decide in a responsible way whether that is the direction to take or not."
