Fight over Jim Acosta’s White House press pass seems far from over

The White House warned CNN reporter Jim Acosta that his press pass would be yanked again once a court’s temporary restraining order expires, according to a report.

The letter from the White House comes after a federal judge on Friday ordered Acosta’s press pass be temporarily restored for 14 days, CNN reported late Sunday.

“The White House is continuing to violate the First and 5th Amendments of the Constitution. These actions threaten all journalists and news organizations. Jim Acosta and CNN will continue to report the news about the White House and the President,” the cable network said in a statement.

The White House announced on Nov. 7 that it was pulling Acosta’s press pass “until further notice” after he engaged with a testy give-and-take with President Trump during a news conference.

CNN challenged the suspension in Washington, DC, federal court.

Federal Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee, ruled in favor of CNN, saying the White House had violated Acosta’s Fifth Amendment right to due process and ordered the pass to be reinstated while the lawsuit continues.
