Spain 2-3 Croatia: Jedvaj winner blows England’s Nations League group wide open

Tin Jedvaj struck three minutes into stoppage time to blow England’s Nations League group wide open.

Jedvaj’s second of the game pulled Croatia back from the brink, meaning the winner of their clash on Sunday with England will top the group and the loser will be relegated.

Croatia started as though they meant business, knowing that they were scrapping for their survival in the top flight.

Ivan Perisic had the first decent chance after six minutes but his shot was saved by David de Gea in the bottom left corner.

Perisic looked lively again 10 minutes later only to see his shot blocked and he should have done better with a header that he sent high and wide.

Spain finished the half the stronger side as Saul Niguez and Isco went close.

Saul then had a header from Isco’s cross saved in the top left corner as the half came to a close.

Perisic turned creator for the opening goal early in the second half as Andrej Kramaric fired home.

But Spain were level within two minutes when Isco set up Dani Ceballos to score.

The hosts were quickly back in front though, when Jedvaj headed home from close range from a Luka Modric cross.

Sergio Ramos made it 2-2 when he converted from the spot 12 minutes from time after Sime Vrsaljko had handled, only for Jedvaj to win it.
