Michael Avenatti, the outspoken lawyer for Stormy Daniels, has been arrested on Wednesday following domestic violence allegations, a law enforcement official said.
The official said Avenatti was taken into custody Wednesday. Police had responded to a domestic violence incident a day earlier and took a report.
The official wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly and so spoke anonymously.
Avenatti remained in custody Wednesday evening and did not return requests for comment.
He is best known as the lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels, who said she had sex with U.S. President Donald Trump in 2006. Trump has denied having an affair.
Avenatti also expressed interest in running for president in 2020.
