Neil Young has repeated his call for President Donald Trump to stop playing his 1989 classic “Rockin’ In The Free World” at campaign events.
“DT does not have my permission to use the song ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ at his appearances. Legally, he has the right to, however, it goes against my wishes. I made this perfectly clear after he played it in a media moment to announce his candidacy. I asked him then, in a widely shared public letter to cease and desist,” Young wrote on his website.
It’s not the first time Trump has used music without consent from artists. Last month, Pharrell Williams sent a cease and desist letter to Trump for playing his song “Happy” at a Midwest rally just hours after the Tree of Life congregation shooting in Pittsburgh.
Several other artists and band have also asked Trump to stop using their music for election rallies and other political programs.
