Round three! Tens of thousands of revellers gear up for another huge day of partying as the rain clears in Melbourne for Oaks Day

Oaks Day has kicked off at Flemington Racecourse with an incredible display of extravagant head wear and a huge impressive parade of colourful fashion. 

Racegoers appeared to have recovered wonderfully from Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup, with some so eager to start festivities they sprinted through the entrance.

Women were dressed to the nines in an array of exuberant ensembles, many donning massive over-the-top hats for Ladies Day and final day of Fashions on the Field.

One easy-going attendee didn’t waste any time getting into the spirit of the day

The sunshine proved a beautiful excuse for the ladies to bring out the most broadest, sun-protective hats they owned, many glowing in the stunning 16C weather.  

On the track, three-year-old fillies will race for $1million in the Group One Kennedy Oaks race.
