David Beckham mobbed by devoted fans as he celebrates voters backing of his Miami stadium

The footie ace had cause to celebrate as his InterMiami soccer club took another step towards fruition, although he still needs to get city commissioners on board to finalise the project.

Becks has been behind a gruelling five-year and £900,000 campaign to establish a football team in the area and it looks like it's finally paying off.

Taking to the stage with a well-deserved smile on his face, Becks, 43, looked his usual handsome self.

The father of four wore a fitted white shirt and navy blazer that showed off his athletic physique.

David finished off his suave look with a pair of camel brogues to add a pop of colour to the outfit's more subdued tones.

And after addressing the crowds at the event in Miami, a jubilant Beckham smiled for selfies with fans and signed footballs and shirts.

Becks couldn't wipe the smile off his face after swinging a majority in the latest vote.

And the 60 per cent vote is quite the triumph after facing multiple hurdles over the past five years.

But it's not over yet, the vote doesn't guarantee a stadium – the lease still needs to be approved by four of five city officials – some of whom are not on board with the idea.

Speaking at the event, Becks acknowledged that they still have work to do.

He said: “Everybody has their right to their opinion. At the end of the day, that’s why there’s a vote.

"That’s why there’s a yes and a no.

"But I think we’re in a good place.”
