That Midtown lunch date just got a little spicier.
South California-style Taco Dumbo is opening a flagship eatery on the ground floor of 114 W. 47th St.
The news comes as office lunch seekers mourn the loss of multiple, historic cheap eats spots, like Sapporo, an iconic Times Square slurp shop that opened in the 1970s and closed early this year.
The taqueria chain’s 4,000-square-foot space is slated to open this spring.
It will be the chain’s fifth New York location. Its fourth — at 1385 Broadway — is slated to open in December.
The new W. 47th St. flagship will have 75 seats, two private dining rooms, one semi private area, a bar and a lounge.
There will also be hammocks and a projector screen playing vintage surf videos.
The restaurant will “enhance the culinary offerings available to our commercial office tenants within the building and along Corporate Row and the surrounding neighborhood,” said Jonathan (Jody) Durst, president of the Durst Oganization.
Taco Dumbo was repped by Retail Worx’s Jonathan Krieger and Dan Bodner. The landlord was repped by the Durst Organization’s David Neil, and Ashley Mays and Colliers International’s David Tricarico and Jedd Horn.
Joe Coffee, a Big Apple-based group of Danny Meyer-backed cafes from Jonathan Rubinstein, is taking its coffee beans to its 20th location, a kiosk across from Shake Shack at Grand Central Terminal.
It’s also celebrating its 15-year anniversary with a collaboration of special donuts in partnership with Underwest Donuts, which has created an espresso-infused funfetti cake glazed donut, and a limited edition anniversary coffee.
WE HEAR … that restaurateur Tuvia Feldman’s Bustan, at 487 Amsterdam Ave., with its eclectic mix of Southern European, Western Asian and North African dishes, has a new team: executive chef Eli Buliskeria and pastry chef Shir Rozenblat — together in life and in the kitchen— adding an Israeli flair to the menu. The couple previously worked for chef Jonathan Roshfeld at Herbert Samuel in Tel Aviv before coming to New York to work at The Paper Factory Hotel in Long Island City. … that Bagatelle is celebrating its 10th anniversary in New York and is opening its 11th restaurant in Buenos Aires this week, following a London opening this summer.
