X Factor technical fault ruins several contestants' performances

An audio fault completely wrecked several performances during Saturday’s (November 3) episode of The X Factor.

Viewers could’ve been forgiven for thinking ITV had pulled an Inside No. 9 trick and doctored the show’s technical output in celebration of Halloween.

But no, it turns out they’d just screwed it up accidentally.

The fact the show was reportedly pre-recorded makes this even more strange.

The technical problems first became apparent during Dermot O’Leary’s introduction of Danny Tetley.

It sounded like the classic Doctor Who villains, the Daleks, had hacked into ITV’s system.

The static feedback was horrendous, prompting the network to insert a screen marker which read: “We are sorry for the temporary interference in sound.”

Lasting approximately 15 minutes in total, the poor sound quality affected the next couple of performances, which included Danny himself and Anthony Russell.

Fans will remember that this isn’t the first time one of Danny’s performances has been hindered by a technical glitch.

Several weeks back, the announcer called out the wrong singer’s name as Danny stepped onstage.

The merciless world of Twitter was in full voice during the show’s technical blunder, with many viewers confused by what was happening.

It’s now been confirmed that the voting has been cancelled until tomorrow’s show.

This will hopefully allow the affected performers’ tracks to be played out properly to a wide audience, without any audio hiccups.

Fingers crossed!
