Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley is speaking out for the first time about a serious injury during rehearsals that landed her in the hospital earlier this week.
The filmmaker alarmed fans on Tuesday (October 3) by sharing photos from a hospital bed, although she assured her followers that “nothing’s broke”. A Strictly spokesperson later confirmed to Digital Spy that she’d suffered a bruised rib.

Stacey and her professional partner Kevin Clifton made their first public appearance since the injury on It Takes Two on Friday (November 2) to explain to Zoe Ball how the mishap went down.
“Last week, [my ribs were] niggling me. We think it was the lean in the tango, don’t we?” she asked Kevin. “Impact! Impact! Impact! Then on the Monday when we’re training, I’ve sort of got this going on and then, bang!
“I just hit Kevin and I heard it tear. I was like, I’m gonna throw up. You know when you hit and you feel so bad and you feel like you’re gonna [vomit] everywhere? We had new choreographers, and I was embarrassed!”
As Zoe laughed, Stacey went a step further: “So, I swallowed my own [vomit]. Sorry, sorry, sorry!”
After that gross-out moment, Zoe was able to clarify that Stacey was indeed rushed to the hospital and found out that she’d torn a muscle.
The good news is that Stacey is fully intending to continue on in the competition, but with a modified routine this week. Stacey and Kevin will do a Street and Commercial dance to Alicia Keys’ ‘Empire State of Mind (Part II)’.
“I feel like, no-one likes a sob story. No-one likes to hear Moanie Margaret,” she insisted. “I’m just gonna go there, try and smash it, do my absolute best and whatever’s meant to be will be.”
Injuries seem to be running rampant on the Strictly Come Dancing set right now. Danny John-Jules collapsed during rehearsals last week, while his professional partner Amy Dowden hurt her ankle in a collision with Gorka Márquez during a practice run.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One.
