The X Factor‘s Danny Tetley clashed with the judges on last weekend’s shows over song choices, and now he’s said that he isn’t alone in thinking the show isn’t sticking to the themes.
Last weekend was supposed to be ‘guilty pleasures’ week, which saw acts perform songs by Skepta and Kanye West, while Danny himself was criticised by Simon Cowell, Robbie Williams and Louis Tomlinson for singing Madonna’s ‘Crazy For You’.
On the night, Danny bit back by stating some of the song choices were “questionable”, and has doubled down on that claim on today’s (November 2) This Morning.
Speaking to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, he said: “If it was opera week, you wouldn’t have someone singing Slipknot, if it was Motown week, you wouldn’t sing Frank Sinatra.
“I heard the others who were singing songs that were not their guilty pleasures. They were staying in their comfort zones when I went out of mine.”
He adds that he isn’t alone in his thinking, stating that: “A lot of the contestants have agreed that it wasn’t their guilty pleasure.”
And Danny doesn’t expect it to end anytime soon either, adding that: “It’s fright night, it’s Halloween, so maybe a few questionable songs this week as well!”
Apparently this weekend will see one of the contestants singing Shawn Mendes’ famously scary ‘In My Blood’, so make of that what you will.
Danny updated fans on his throat infection, saying he is getting better and Ayda Field bought him some expensive honey to help him.
Even though he can’t wait to perform again on the show, he’s admitted that he knows his isn’t going to win.
“I’m not going to win it,” he added. “I know who is going to win it.
“I think the final three will be Dalton (Harris), Shan (Ako) and Scarlett (Lee). They’re in a league of their own.”
The X Factor continues on Saturday at 8.35pm on ITV, and the results show airs on Sunday at 8.30pm. This Morning airs weekdays at 10:30am.
