The Italian midfielder was pulled over in the 13th Arrondisement on the Paris ring road in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to L'Equipe, his blood-alcohol level was 0.49mg/l – more than double the French limit of 0.20mg/l.
The 25-year-old was held in a sobering cell before being allowed to leave and now faces a lengthy driving ban.
He will have to return to the station at some time in the future to process the crime.
PSG are yet to comment on the arrest.
Thomas Tuchel's side, who are already eight points clear at the top of Ligue 1 having won 11 out of 11, face second-placed Lille on Friday night.
It is not yet clear if Verratti will play.
