Where was The First filmed?

The first was filmed in the US in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Most of the shooting took place at studios but scenes also take place in the city.

Chris Menke, production supervisor previously spoke about the appeal of New Orleans to KFTV. 

He said: "New Orleans is a vibrant, lush city both visually and culturally – a rich setting in which to place our characters and one that is a stark contrast to the barren planet Mars."

Here's a look at the different locations which appear in the series…

Buffa’s Bar & Restaurant

Buffa's Bar & restaurant is located on Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans.

It offers classic Southern dishes such as shrimp and grits and red beans and rice.

The restaurant also hosted live music and jazz events.

The Ranch Studios

The Ranch Studios are located seven miles south of New Orleans.

They have previously been used for Terminator: Genisys and Deepwater Horizon.

The production teams built the interiors of Sean Penn's character's house and the Vista centre.

A green screen was also used for scenes in moving vehicles.

The Michoud Assembling Facility and the John C Stennis Space Center

Limited filming also took place at two space centres.

For these scenes the crew had to be limited and staff escorts were required.

The Michoud Assembling Facility is a NASA manufacturing plant.

The John C Stennis Space Center is used to test rockets.

When is The First on Channel 4?

The First airs on Channel 4 TONIGHT November 1, 2018 at 9pm.

It has already been shown in the US and aired on Hulu on September 14.

The series is written by Beau Willimon who also created House Of Cards.

The cast includes Sean Penn, Natascha McElhone, Melissa George and LisaGay Hamilton.
