Watch Colbert, Kimmel Mock ‘Beautiful Ted’ Cruz for Getting Help From Ex-Rival Trump

Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel skewered Ted Cruz for seeking help from his old foe, President Donald Trump, as the Texas senator fights to keep his seat in a surprisingly tight race against his opponent, Beto O’Rourke.

On Monday, Trump appeared at a rally for Cruz in Houston, while he also spoke briefly with reporters about the smears he leveled against Cruz during the 2016 Republican presidential primary. Though Trump said he did not regret suggesting Cruz’s father was involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy, he did change the Senator’s nickname from “Lyin’ Ted” to “Beautiful Ted.”

On The Late Show, Colbert busted out his Trump impression, cracking, “So beautiful, come to think of it, his father didn’t kill JFK. His father had sex with JFK. Beautiful, beautiful sex.” The host then shared some pity for another conservative Ted, cracking, “Somewhere, Ted Nugent is weeping over his assault rifle. ‘I thought I was beautiful Ted, wango-sado.’”

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel said of Cruz reaching out to Trump, “That had to be the saddest phone call Ted Cruz ever had to make. I mean, imagine if your neighbor insulted your wife’s face, and then you had to ask him to loan you a weed whacker? That’s Ted Cruz’s life right now.”

Kimmel also shared a fake ad for Cruz, which featured classic campaign shots of amber waves of grain interspersed with clips of all the nasty things Trump said about his former rival. Kimmel cracked after, “Imagine how hilarious it will be if Ted Cruz is forced to kiss his bully’s ass in front of the whole world, and then loses anyway. Come on, I mean, if nothing else, do it for comedy’s sake.”
