The pledge from Beijing’s Premier Li Keqiang came when Theresa May held one-to-one talks with him in the margins of a giant EU-Asia summit.
Li is deputy to all-powerful Chinese leader President Xi.
Before discussing a future trade deal, the Premier told the PM: “Your visit to China in January was a big success.
“We enjoy this golden era and usher in a diamond era”.
Mrs May also held trade deal talks with South Korea’s leader, President Moon Jae-in.
They discussed carrying over a new trade deal struck between the South Asian giant and the EU so it also applies to the UK after Brexit.
More than 50 world leaders gathered for 24 hours of talks in the Belgian capital – meaning more than half of global trade, 60% of the world’s population and two-thirds of global GDP was represented there.
