Baby wearing is the best: it allows you to bond with your little one and stay hands-free at the same time. But Piers Morgan mocked James Bond actor Daniel Craig for toting his newborn daughter in a star print carrier.
“Oh 007 . . . not you as well?!!” Morgan wrote in a tweet on Monday, October 15. The Good Morning Britain host, 53, then used the hashtag #papoose — a British term for baby carrier — and added “emasculatedBond.” In the photo, Craig, 50, wears his little one front-facing in a $159 Tula Free-to-Grow carrier.
Chris Evans rushed to Craig’s defense. “You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child,” the Captain America, 37, star replied. “Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside.”
Evans wasn’t the only person who clapped back at the outspoken journalist. “Hey @piersmorgan my husband used to carry my boys around in a #papoose so I could get some rest. It made me love him even more. God bless our sweet husbands who ‘Bond’ with our babies,” wrote Canadian meteorologist Janice Dean. Morgan — who is referring to the backlash as “Papoose-Gate” responded: “Why couldn’t he use his arms, like every other generation of dads?”
The father of Spencer, 25, Stanley, 21, Albert, 17, and Elise, 6, then claimed that men only wear their little ones “because their wives/girlfriends told them to . . .”
Craig and Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz, who have been married for seven years, welcomed their first child together in August. He is also dad of Ella, 26, from his previous marriage to Fiona Loudon. Weisz, 48, shares son, Henry, 12, with ex-husband Darren Aronofsky.
The Disobedience star revealed she was pregnant in an interview in April with The New York Times. “I’ll be showing soon,” she said at the time. “Daniel and I are so happy.”
