Who is Sunetra Sarker and does she have a partner and children?
Sunetra Sarker is a 45-year-old actress born on June 25, 1973, in Liverpool.
The child of a Hindu family, Sunetra's father is a retired doctor and her mother used to teach Indian classical dance, for which she was awarded an MBE in 2013.
Sunetra studied at Brunel University London and has a degree in French and Information Systems for Business in Europe.
She was married to Nick Corfield for ten years before their divorce in 2014 and the two have a son called Noah together.
The actress is now dating marketing director Scott Carey.
How did Sunetra Sarker get into acting?
According to her, she never planned to be an actress or go into the profession.
At the age of 13, she was spotted a bus stop by the casting director who worked at Brookside.
She ended up playing teenager Nisha Batra for two years from 1988 to 1990 before returning in 2000 for three more years.
Sunetra then enrolled in night drama school to get some acting knowledge but always credits the cast and crew she has worked with for giving her valuable insight and knowledge into the industry.
What made Sunetra Sarker a household name?
In 2004, she was cast as healthcare assistant Anji Mittel in the Channel 4 comedy No Angels alongside former EastEnders actress Joy Joyner.
Sunetra has said that one of the greatest moments of her career was landing the role which she played until the show came to an end in 2006.
The star was then cast in Casualty as Dr Zoe Hanna in 2007 and she stayed on the show until May 2016.
What else has Sunetra starred in?
Sunetra played Clare Burns on the ITV drama The Chase and has appeared on Doctor Who, Emmerdale and Cold Feet.
In 2007, she took part in Celebrity Masterchef and in 2014 she signed up for Strictly Come Dancing.
She was partnered with Brendan Cole but they were voted out in week ten.
Recently, she was on Ackley Bridge as Kaneez Paracha.
However, the actress' latest project is Informer in which she portrays Sadia Shar.
What is Informer about?
Informer follows the second-generation Pakistani East Londoner Raza.
He is coerced by a Counter-Terrorism officer called Gabe to go undercover and inform for him.
The officer – who has a mysterious past – is joined by Holly, his new and ambitious partner who poses a threat to Gabe and the operation due to her curious nature.
As the central investigation heats up, the stakes keep getting higher for the characters.
