There was a time when the most exciting thing on the top deck of a cruise ship was a small pool. Or maybe a shuffleboard court. But those days are long gone.
Today’s cruise ships are floating mega-resorts loaded with deck-top amusements that would have been unthinkable just a decade or two ago. In addition to multiple pools and hot tubs atop cruise vessels, you’ll find monster water slides, rock climbing walls, surfing pools, skydiving simulators and even zip lines. A few recent Royal Caribbean ships even have a glass-enclosed capsule ride that soars more than a hundred feet above the ship. Miniature golf courses are a dime-a-dozen.
In our latest Cruise Ship Tour, in the carousel on this page, we offer a look at some of the most innovative deck-top attractions on cruise ships sailing today.
