Duchess Meghan Already Has an Engraved Gift Ready If She Has a Daughter

Duchess Meghan treated herself to a more than $9,000 Cartier Tank watch when Suits was picked up for a third season in 2012.

“I had it engraved on the back, ‘To M.M. from M.M. and I plan to give it to my daughter one day,” the now-pregnant Duchess of Sussex, 37, told Hello! magazine in 2015. “That’s what makes pieces special, the connections you have to them.”

The French accessory might also have meaning for Prince Harry. His late mother, Princess Diana, wore two different Cartier styles, including the Tank Française, according to the New York Times.

Kensington Palace announced on Monday, October 15, that the retired actress and Harry, 34, are expecting their first child together in the Spring of 2019. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May,” the palace statement read, adding that the parents-to-be are “delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

There is a chance Meghan and Harry’s firstborn will share a birthday with Prince William and Duchess Kate’s 3-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte. A source exclusively told Us Weekly that the L.A. born royal “is due on or around May 2nd,” and is “a couple of days just shy of her 15-week mark.” (Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015.)

The newlyweds, who are on their first international tour together in Australia, will reside at Nottingham Cottage with their bundle of joy. The two-bedroom residence at Kensington Palace boasts a small garden and reception rooms designed by St. Paul’s Cathedral architect Christopher Wren.
