Sarri and Klopp’s brilliant conversation when Chelsea were beating Liverpool

Maurizio Sarri has revealed the details of a touchline conversation he had with Jurgen Klopp during Chelsea’s draw with Liverpool which shows just how much both men love their jobs.

The Blues and the Reds are two of the three unbeaten teams in the Premier League this season, and currently sit joint-top of the table alongside the other, Manchester City .

And their 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago showcased the qualities of both sides in what was arguably the game of the season so far.

Eden Hazard’s well-taken goal had given the hosts the lead in the first half, and Sarri has revealed the chat he had with his opposite number while it was still 1-0.

"That (game) was an extraordinary show," the Italian told Corriere dello Sport.

"Just 10 minutes earlier, I saw Klopp looking at me with the game going on. I asked: ‘Why are you smiling?’ He replied: ‘Aren’t you having fun?’

"I said: ‘so much’ and he added: ‘me too.’

"He was losing at the time."

Klopp’s relaxed manner proved to be well-placed, as Daniel Sturridge struck a brilliant equaliser for the Reds with just one minute remaining.

"Even after the equaliser, remembering that moment, we hugged like two old friends," continued Sarri. "I’m sure he would’ve done the same even if Liverpool hadn’t equalised.

The Premier League has this joy of football."
