Taylor Swift knows this, and chose to break her career-long silence on politics this week when she endorsed Democratic candidates from Tennessee, urging her millions of followers to vote in the upcoming elections.
Despite backlash from Donald Trump, Swift really doesn’t care what he or haters have to say about it!
An insider tells Us Weekly that Tay acknowledged it was about time for her to speak up:
“She thought, ‘What’s the point of having this fame if I’m not going to use it for good?’ Taylor finally decided to share her political opinion because she realizes that she’s at the peak of her career and doesn’t care about haters at this point.”
The End Game singer sent shockwaves through the Internet when she announced she’d no longer be silent in a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday.
The powerful move received mostly positive feedback on Twitter, including support from other celebs like Modern Family‘s Sarah Hyland, who tweeted:
But more importantly, the political post made a real difference and caused a HUGE spike in voter registration, which Vote.org called “unprecedented”.
We’re still very impressed by this show of support from Taylor.
