North, Saint and Chicago are in good hands! Teyana Taylor had nothing but nice things to say about Kanye West’s parenting skills in a new interview.
“He’s such a great father,” the “Gonna Love Me” singer, 27, told Us Weekly exclusively at UGG’s recent 40th anniversary celebration at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles. “We always share different tips of how we handle our kids and different things like that. It’s good. He’s overall a good guy.”
The rapper, 41, shares North, 5, Saint, 2, and Chicago, 8 months, with his wife of four years, Kim Kardashian. Taylor and her husband of two years, Iman Shumpert, are the parents of daughter Junie, 2.
The Teyana and Iman star, who is signed to West’s GOOD Music record label, revealed that her little girl has had a few impromptu playdates with her collaborator’s three children.
“It’s crazy because we’re always so busy,” she told Us. “They just kind of meet on set. Whatever set we’re on … he brings his kids, I bring my daughter, and they kind of just get up like that.”
West has made headlines in recent weeks for his vocal support of President Donald Trump. During his September 29 appearance on Saturday Night Live, the 21-time Grammy winner sported a “Make America Great Again” hat and ranted about Democrats. The next day, he came under fire for tweeting that the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, should be repealed. He later clarified that he meant to say amended. He has since deleted his Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Taylor said she believes West’s “intentions are good,” even if he may not always come across that way.
“We’re in a world where everything is only one minute long. You’ve got a minute to get your point across,” she told Us. “I think his soundbites are very, very unfortunate. … He’s one of the people where you have to just sit in a room and really just talk to him, and at the end of a four-hour conversation, you understand him a little bit better.”
She added, “All around, he’s a good dad, he’s a good friend, he’s a good boss. Just a little bit misunderstood.”
Taylor and West have collaborated on songs including “Dark Fantasy,” “Hell of a Life” and “To the World.” He produced her album K.T.S.E., which was released in July.
