Starz has just dropped the first teaser trailer for American Gods‘ second season.
The clip made its debut at New York Comic-Con on Friday (October 5) during a panel with the cast.
The teaser doesn’t give very much away about what season two has in store for fans, with the familiar faces all there and brief glimpses at some of the new characters.
The second season will pick up just hours after the season one finale, where Mr Wednesday revealed himself to his minder Shadow as the God Odin.
As creator Neil Gaiman put it during the panel: “Everything is about to get better… and worse.”
But while the teaser looks pretty magical, behind the scenes things have been more cursed for season two.
First, showrunner and head writer Bryan Fuller and Michael Green quit, then Gillian Anderson was next to exit.
After that, Starz announced it had hired former Lost writer Jesse Alexander to work alongside Gaiman to run season two, but that lasted less than a month.
Then it was down to producing director Chris Byrne and line producer Lisa Kussner who were left in charge.
So, with all the behind-the-scenes drama, it will be interesting to see if season two can recapture the magic of season one.
American Gods is available to view on Amazon Prime Video in the UK. Season two is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2019.
