It’s been a while since we had a really good Harry Potter videogame, and we don’t know if we’re looking in the Mirror of Erised, but it looks like such a thing has appeared online.
First ‘leaked’ by a Reddit user, who posted a video of supposedly in-development footage they sneakily took on their phone from some market research, the video shows a character creation system, a detailed Hogwarts castle, various magical creatures and some combat.
Warner Bros has obviously taken it down for copyright reasons, but the alleged official description remains, along with other bits of information that might have surfaced since the video was published.
First up, that description: Apparently you will explore locations familiar and new, choose from eight different wizarding classes and venture down a path of good or evil. Oh, and it’s an action RPG too.
Newsround icon Lizo Mzimba, of all people, reacted to the ‘leak’ and says that the game may be called Magic Awakened, Magic Forever or something else. He also says that more Potter games are in the works too.
Our friends at Eurogamer have also been in touch with their sources, who say that former Disney Infinity developer Avalanche Software, which was bought by Warner Bros, is a year away from launch.
Let’s just hope it isn’t full of ridiculous microtransactions like the mobile game Hogwarts Mystery, which wanted you to pay up to stop your character (a child) being strangled.
