Harbour has taken over the role once made so brutishly popular by Ron Perlman, with Game of Thrones’ ‘Blackwater’ director Neil Marshall stepping aboard.
The vibrant new poster – captioned, “Legendary AF” – sees our titular half-demon gripping a massive sword ahead of some (probable) monster hunting.
What’s that he’s peering at in the distance? With the Hellboy team attending this week’s New York Comic-Con, a potential trailer drop could answer that question.
Fans are clearly into Harbour’s new look, with several online comments reading: “that looks straight out of the comic,” “he looks different. Did he do something with his hair?,” “Dope af..!!,” “David harbour looks so good as him,” and “Poster looks awesome!”
It was recently confirmed that Marshall’s dark fantasy has been pushed back by three months into April, meaning those new year blues won’t be vanquished after all (insert sad face).
However, the English director has some promising news for Hellboy enthusiasts, revealing how this one might differ from Guillermo del Toro’s original adaptations.
“We’ve been granted permission to do it R-rated, which for me is just like taking the cuffs off,” he explained. “It’s like, ‘OK, so now we can just make the movie we want to make’.”
Hellboy will be released on April 12, 2019 in the US.
