Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker has spent four series creeping you out with the traumatic twist-endings to his episodes, so now he wants you to do it to yourself.
Netflix is venturing further into the field of interactive programming after experimenting with kids shows like Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale and Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile, by turning one upcoming Black Mirror episode into a choose-your-own-adventure-esque story.
Bloomberg first reported the news that viewers will be able to directly influence the events in one of Brooker’s stories in series five, but the exact details are being kept under wraps for now.
Digital Spy has reached out to representatives for Netflix for clarification on what Brooker and company have in store for their interactive episode.
Viewer interactivity has been a recurring theme in Black Mirror over the years, from the ‘Playtest’ episode where events were undone and reset, to a sadistic game made by a creator inserting people from his real life into a fictional world in ‘USS Callister’.

Black Mirror series 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix, with the fifth coming soon worldwide on the streaming service. Earlier this year, some on-set photos teased that the new episodes will be following ‘San Junipero’ in going back to the 1980s, although seemingly for a much grimmer story.
In addition to the new season, Charlie Brooker and his team are due to share behind-the-scenes secrets from throughout the history of Black Mirror in a new book that’s available to pre-order now.
