Vogue published a BTS video of friends Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Cara DeLevingne at Virgil Abloh’s personal Off-White design label show at Paris Fashion Week. The show has turned out to be one of the unexpected highlights of PFW, perhaps in part because of the star power of the professional models – besides Kendall, Cara and Bella, Kaia Gerber also walked the runway – but also because Virgil had his line, which was inspired by the sport of Track and Field, also shown by first-time models who were top European track athletes.
Virgil has had a very busy but successful year. Not only did he amicably part as creative director for Kanye West’s Donda design house, but the Ghanaian-American became one of the first persons of African descent to lead a major French fashion brand when he became artistic director for Louis Vuitton’s menswear line. He also greatly expanded the reach of his four-year old Off-White fashion house through a series of broader partnerships with Nike.
And even with all of that, he had time to personally design Serena Williams’ iconic “tutu” tennis wear for the U.S. Open earlier this month, and serve as DJ at Joe Jonas’ Miami birthday party in August.
