Joe Hart to get training pitch named after him ahead of Manchester City return with Burnley

The Burnley keeper, 31, will face his old club on October 20 for the first time since leaving for Turf Moor.

And there are plans for a lasting tribute at the Etihad Campus after his 12 years’ service and two Premier League titles.

Hart is set to have one of the pitches there named in his honour, just like fellow City legend Yaya Toure.

Meanwhile City captain Vincent Kompany will donate profits from a testimonial next August to Manchester’s homeless.

He said: “I’ve been lucky to have witnessed and played a part in City’s rise.

“This has run parallel alongside the rise of a whole region.

"But with this rise comes a visible downside: more and more people are left out of and have no access to benefits of the rapid development, often with no choice but to end up on the streets.”

Following Hart's transfer, City chairman Al Mubrarak said: "Joe Hart's contribution cannot be overstated.

"He will be regarded as a City legend.

"I want to personally thank him for everything he has given to us over very many years and he leaves with Sheikh Mansour's and my heartfelt best wishes."

But Hart claimed that he had been "set free" after he finally left the Premier League champions.
