Toy Story 4's Tim Allen teases "emotional" movie: 'I couldn't get through the last scene'

When Toy Story 4 was announced, we were sceptical of where the franchise would go after the perfectly satisfying conclusion of the third film.

But it turns out that the upcoming return of Buzz Lightyear and company won’t just be a fluffy cash-grab, it’s going to really tug at the heartstrings too.

Appearing on The Talk, actor Tim Allen revealed the he struggled to make it through the film because it was so emotional.

“I gotta resist getting emotional. I don’t want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story,” he said.

“It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled. I couldn’t even get through the last scene.

“I would love to be a Washington leaker. I just can’t do it. I can’t give any more away. They’ve got great characters but a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.”

Toy Story 4 was originally scheduled for a 2017 release, but was delayed to 2019 after, according to Bo Peep actress Annie Potts, three-quarters of the script was shelved.

The character of Bo is said to have a large role in this instalment, after being absent from the last one.

Meanwhile, Tim Allen’s sitcom Last Man Standing was recently saved by Fox, one year after it was axed.
