Eagles Announce New Career-Spanning Box Set ‘Legacy’

The Eagles have announced a new career-spanning boxed set. Titled Legacy, the 12-CD collection spotlights the band’s entire recorded catalog, from their self-titled 1972 album to 2007’s Long Road Out of Eden, along with two concert films, Hell Freezes Over on DVD and Farewell Tour: Live From Melbourne on Blu-ray.

Due November 2nd from Rhino Entertainment, the set, priced at just under $180, also includes the newly compiled Singles and B-Sides collection featuring the single versions of hits including “Take It Easy,” “One of These Nights” and “Lyin’ Eyes,” as well as such non-album B-sides as “Get You in the Mood.”

A vinyl version of Legacy will also be released the same day, with all of the music from the CDs available on 15 LPs. While the LP box, which will sell for $349, does not include the videos, the audio versions of the Hell Freezes Over and Millennium concerts, as well as Singles and B-Sides will be included with the LP box set. In addition, both sets, which are housed in slipcases, feature a 54-page hardbound book with photos, memorabilia and artwork from throughout the band’s run as one of the most influential American acts of the latter half of the 20th century.

In a career that has seen 45 years of chart-topping hits, sold-out tours, and a contentious breakup followed by a thoroughly unexpected reunion more than a decade later, the Eagles have come to exemplify country-tinged rock & roll in a way no act has, influencing two generations of performers in the process. The group’s current iteration, which includes singer-guitarist Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, son of the late Glenn Frey, continues to mine the group’s ubiquitous catalog in live performances, and are now in the midst of a North American trek due to wrap in December.
