Boss Poch said: “I am confident our stadium will be ready this year. I had private conversations with Daniel and I think they are confident.
“I hope that before Christmas, we can play. That’s my wish. It will be a big boost for everyone. But after that comment Daniel might kill me and say, ‘Why did you put this expectation on me?’”
Spurs intended to spend only last season staging home games at Wembley before moving into their state-of-the-art home for the start of this term.
But its opening was delayed first to September 15 and then indefinitely.

The Hornets feel the tie should have been switched to Vicarage Road.
Poch added: “I don’t care if they are happy or not. What can we do if we cannot play at Wembley or at our new stadium? The draw was for Tottenham versus Watford rather than Watford versus Tottenham.”
