Students, take your seats, because Kelly Ripa just schooled the internet on how to clap back. The talk show host is no stranger to criticism, but according to AOL, she took to the comments section to let a troll know that they’ve got no business bringing up her age or her husband’s.
The commenter stated that Ripa was too old (specifically old-looking) for Marc Consuelos. But they tried to be polite about it, adding “sorry, but you do.” The comment came on one of Conseulos’ posts.
Ripa didn’t stand for it, getting elbows deep in the comments and adding her own. To add to the fire, it’s clear the Instagram user didn’t know that both Ripa and Conseulos are 47 years old.
“You need to learn how to spell the word too sweetie,” she wrote. “As in you’re too stupid to be with my young, handsome husband. Ps, he likes proper grammar as well you dope.”

In an interview with Us Weekly, Ripa said that Conseulos would rather she didn’t get involved with the drama, but she can’t resist.
“He hates it, but I love it,” she told the magazine. “I try not to even focus on that kind of stuff, but once in a while it’s fun because I’m from New Jersey, so I don’t take any of that too seriously. If someone gives me a hard time, I give them a hard time right back.”
Consuelos may not like Ripa’s responses, but sometimes, he gets in on the action, too. AOL adds that he jumped to his wife’s defense when commenters were body-shaming her for wearing a bikini. Though he’s not from New Jersey, he’s clearly learned from the best. Being married for 22 years will do that.

“I posted this pic of the [woman] I most admire. As a playful tribute to my wife who I’m proud of in endless ways,” he wrote. “She works extremely hard in her professional life and her commitment to exercise, healthy diet is admirable and the benefits show. Yes she’s wearing a bikini at age 47 and will no doubt wear one for many years to come. If that offends you in some way, if it triggers you, or some other psychosis you’re suffering from, I suggest you get over it and get used to it.”
