Cancel all your plans for 2019 and get yourself a Hulu subscription (if you don’t already have one): Veronica Mars is coming back and no, it’s not just the reruns. On Sept. 20, Kristen Bell confirmed that Hulu has ordered eight new hour-long episodes of Veronica Mars, set to premiere some time in 2019. All three seasons of the show, along with the 2014 movie, will also be available to stream starting in summer 2019.

The announcement comes just weeks after Entertainment Weekly reported that a deal was in the works between show runner Rob Thomas, Warner Bros., and the streaming giant. The revival is not expected to interfere with Bell’s other show, The Good Place, so you can breathe a sigh of relief if the NBC series (returning Sept. 27) has been in your rotation.
According to a Hulu release, the revival will take viewers back to the fictional town of Neptune, California, where the local tourism industry has recently been hit by a string of murders on spring breakers. After one of the victims’ parents hires Mars Investigations to find their son’s killer, Veronica steps up to uncover a clash between the town’s wealthy elites and the working class that relies so heavily on tourist traffic. Bell is the only cast member announced so far.
This post will be updated as more revival news is announced.
