South Sydney Rabbitohs have launched an investigation into claims made by the Daily Telegraph about an alleged incident involving Burgess' verified social media account.
Pictures of a naked man were allegedly sent from Burgess' Facebook account to a 23-year-old woman, the Australian newspaper reported.
The man's face cannot be seen and Burgess, 29, reportedly declined to comment when approached by reporters outside his house.
Rabbitohs chief executive Blake Solly told the news outlet that he had held “constructive and helpful” discussions with the woman, who they report first contacted the club four months ago saying she felt "violated" and "disgusted".
One snap is claimed to show a screenshot of a man pulling down his pants to reveal his manhood.
Another is reported to show a man lying on a bed in just his underwear.
The May 26 exchange is said to have been between a social media account of Burgess and a woman, 23, who she sent Burgess a message on Instagram when she found a fake profile of him on the dating app Tinder.
The Daily Telegraph report a reply from Burgess' account, asking: “You swipe right?” He is said to have added: “The boys want to face time.”
Screen grabs from a video chat are said to show Burgess and other players – one of which bears his backside – in a restaurant after a win earlier in the day.
The woman is reported to claim that later that night she received video calls from a hotel room using a Facebook account that was in Burgess’ name.
