WWE news: Batista reveals he has not yet been invited to landmark SmackDown 1000 episode

The 49-year-old, real name David Bautista, quit wrestling in 2015 to concentrate on his acting career.

He has flourished with roles in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies plus his latest film Final Score, which was set at West Ham’s old Upton Park ground.

However, he revealed his passion for wrestling is still as strong as ever as he threw open to door to an in-ring comeback.

The landmark episode of SmackDown, which will be held in his hometown of Washington, DC on October 23, seemed the ideal setting for “The Animal” to make an appearance.

But after has confirmed he has yet to receive an invite to show up on the blue brand after answering one of his Twitter followers.

Batista wrote: “Surprise surprise!! I wasn’t invited! And it’s in my hometown.! .. guess by now I shouldn’t be shocked anymore.”

The former world champion said last week: “They know that I'm always open to going back, it just has to be on the right conditions. I have to be available.
